Where does the learned gentleman think Kingston USB sticks are made ?

Sherwood wrote: Sun Jul 03, 2022 6:22 pm It was somewhere around half an hour on mine (it will pause and restart if you have to leave it) - it informs you when it's finished, and it needs engine off and a couple of minutes to roll the new map in (that ensures you can still navigate using the existing map whilst it's progressing).
Yay 👍🏻. Had a run to the shops for holiday stuff and after about 25mins it showed update nearly finished and to restart to conclude.

Back to the car after a wander and got ⬇️

I'm on a roll. France update next.

Thanks Sherwood 👍🏻

..exactly the same basic process for France (though the first download - the download manager .exe - will be a different one as selected for the different map).

I'd clear/format the USB stick if you're using the same one, just in case.

The content is about twice the size, so both the download and the update are likely to be commensurately longer.

Glad you got there. :P

I’m told that all good things are made in Kingston-upon-Hull indeed.
But we’re talking USB sticks.
For those, it’s Kingston-upon-Shenzhen.

Whilst I generally have no complaints with the Sensus sat-nav it’s worrying to note that on 4 separate occasions, at 4 different locations during the last 2 and a half weeks here in the Loire Valley it’s directed me to go the wrong way down a one way street😠 Make sure you keep you keep an eye on the road signs Mike🧐.
Other than that the routing has been pretty good…

P.S. Gazole is averaging 2.20 Euros per litre at the supermarket stations, sans plomb a few cents cheaper.

I have a 64GB USB 3.0 drive (this 3.0 doesn't mean a thing for the front USB ports in Volvo, I know), FAT 32 formatted and the installation is usually smooth. The message I usually get while updating is first there is an error reading the map and I should use the USB, then the second message saying the map in installing.
But, the one thing is important with auto-update: never install your map from the USB before the system finishes installing the auto-updated version! Both updates in such cases can take days, assuming your regular drive around the city is less than an hour. So, I first let the auto-update do its job and shut the car once the installation is finished. After that I put the USB in to do the whole Europe map update, which I prefer. The whole Europe USB update takes similar time to install as the auto-update.

Mikeg1, I think your problem was that the system wanted to do the auto-update first, while you were interrupting it with the USB. Try to set the auto update to off if you prefer doing updates via USB.
