Apparently Volvo are fitting Cross Country tyres as standard on the UK XC40 from MY24.

The All Season Michelin CrossClimate 2 is the most expensive factory fitted tire and Volvo can replace it at any time based on availability or cost savings. So those waiting for their new XC40 should take this with a grain of salt: Michelin CrossClimate 2 will be the factory fitted tire for mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid on 18” (235/55R18) and 19” (235/50R19) wheels. Pirelli PZero remains fitted on 20” (245/45R20) and 21” (245/40R21) wheels. Michelin CrossClimate 2 SUV will be fitted for pure electric Recharge on staggered 19” (235/50R19 F, 255/45R19 R) and 20” (235/45 R20 F, 255/40 R20 R) wheels.

As long as it doesn't come with Continentals I don't care!

Very interesting if this is the case, would have saved me £600 if mine came with them.

My car was delivered in Dec 22, built Nov 22, and came with 235/55 R18 Michelin Primacy 4s. Had them replaced with Cross Climate 2's the very next day at a local garage via Blackcircles.

For early MY23 only Pure Electric Recharge XC40 and C40 came with CrossClimate 2. The other XC40 drivetrains will get CrossClimate 2 for MY24, possibly late MY23.

You can still use Primacy 4 from April till October, in warm weather it will perform better and safer (shorter braking distance) than CrossClimate 2. This way you’ll split the mileage on two tire sets and your £600 will not feel like overspend.

Test reports suggest the CC2 is only a few % off summer tyres though

True, but those few % translates in meters that could make the difference in not hitting someone in an emergency braking situation. I was only suggesting to dawdles a use for his existing brand new set of premium, top quality summer tires.

Have never changed the tyres that come fitted with a new car - and unless you have a specific different need for a certain grip, say for a track-day or rural farm work - don't get why anyone would? Take the Michelin Primacy 4 fitted to the 18", does all what a tyre needs to do very well, and has good reviews - why would you change them? With regards to better braking in an emergency - awareness, correct distances and anticipation will better any differences in tyre performance?? All tyres have to go through strict performance testing, and manufacturers generally work hard to match good all round tyres to their cars, and chosen to exceed performance conditions the car will be capable of and exposed to!!

John, Oldie, Deleted User 3629 - what about “It's all about personal preferences and each to their own”? Applying double standard doesn’t help get why, does it?viewtopic.php?p=33202#p33202
