I have just driven back from London to Yorkshire and got an odd warning symbol, wondered if anyone knew what it was for, disappeared after a while.

It was inside the left hand clock, somewhere near the speed sign, cruise control symbol display.

Best way I can describe it is a car from the rear, which was on a lateral slope (left side high, right side low) with what looked like fumes or heat waves rising from the car!?

Cant find it in the manual and its gone now, just curious.

BTW I was on autobrake, waiting in a que of traffic, uphill, manual gears.

What colour was it? Red? Yellow? White? Something else?

As it was around the Speed signs could it not be a "broken down car" Traffic warning?

Sounds a bit like the Connected Safety "Alarm on slippery driving conditions" symbol, only I don't think that should be yellow:

It was similar, but the car was on a slope sideways with no skidmarks and fumes above it
