From the owners manual there might be two options. 1. from the touchscreen, or 2. using the mode button in the bank of hard buttons below the touchscreen. This looks to jump the touchscreen to the relevant mode screen (for option 1), but it looks like you can then cycle through modes with a hard button press. Not making it too easy are they?

Or by voice command?

I couldn't see a voice command option listed for it. But that would be useful e.g. "Engage Mode [TYPE] "

For other XC models don't they have a small scroll wheel in the centre console area? That would have been more useful than the current XC40 set up.

Gear stick option or steering wheel would have been nice but hey ho, it’s only something else to get used to. You’re right, they seemed to have over complicated it.

Voice command would be very cool and customisable even better. Can you imagine “Engage warp drive” 😂

Moving from a Golf GTE. Company car but going back to my own choice etc.

Never bonded with the Golf and can't wait to get rid. Ordered an XC60 R-Design last weekend but the MY19 changes came in the day after and my order hadn't been submitted so wasn't price/spec locked.

Peugeot 3008 GT. rejected it due to reliability issues they couldn’t fix, prior to that jaguar F Pace, that was also rejected , I hope the Volvo brand is more relatable !!!

Coming from a fully loaded 2016 Audi A4 B9 V6 TDI Quattro 8 speed auto, 350bhp and 550flbt!! - seriously good and very quick car, however recent spine surgery has meant comfort has to take priority especially when getting in and out of the car so the Audi has to go :( The little XC is a funky car and I'm certainly impressed with the spec on the FE.

It's going to replace my 18-year old Nissan Terrano II as a main car. Will still keep it for snowy days perhaps. Extraordinarily reliable for me and really should look after it better with oil changes etc. Think last time I did an oil change was five years ago... :o
