Hi

I have fitted a Dash Cam and ran to the fuse box under the Passenger Seat. As it has Parking Mode I have located a Switched Live Fuse and tapped it fine, but struggling with a Permanent Live ? I see the Fuse box Under the bonnet has the 12V Socket Fuse etc but don't want to have to re run all the cables as that was painful enough !

Has anyone managed to find a permanent live ? if so do they remember what number it was ? As I say this is the fuse box under the passenger seat

Any advise would help

Cheers

Dave

Hi,
I can't help You, because I'm still waiting for my XC40. Could you make some photos of fuse box under seat for me? ;)
My plan is connect dashcam : Blackvue DR900s-2ch to special power bank - Cellink Neo 9 and this Cellink hardwire to fuse box under seat - fuse from heating back seats. Cellink will charge from fuse in 45 minutes, dashcam should works about 24 h in parking mode.

cheers

Finding a temp live under the passenger seat was difficult! The only one I could find that was accessible was the USB fuse on the top right, but that means I can’t close the fuse box lid properly. They all seemed to be permanently live.

Which fuse did you use Dave?

Hi ,

For the Switched (Temp) Live I used the Alcohol Lock fuse, number 86 and for PL which I need to now change was 17. I had 17 on a multimeter for a good 10 mins but must leave longer

I originally asked Volvo to fit, 440£ !! took me 30 mins to run the cables neatly :)

Thanks Dave, I’ll move mine to 17 I think, as I’m not very happy with where it is! My alcohol lock isn’t wired in!

Not that it helps you Dave, but I have plumbed for the fuel pump fuse, it’s a tight fit, but can close the cover properly. 17 didn’t let me get close to closing the cover.

Waiting for my XC40 to arrive and just ordered myself a DR900S in preparation.

I had BMW OEM camera previously and it cost a fortune to install so I was prepared to do it myself this time, but not brave enough to play around with the fuse box and wanted an alternative.

Thankfully, a solution has just been released by Blackvue in the shape of the Power Magic EZ. Connects to the OBD port and has all the same switches as the Pro. May be worth checking out for anyone who doesn’t fancy trying to access either fuse box.

Hi,

Sorry late reply on this post been working away and catching up with the important stuff now :)

I purchased the OBD device as your right its so much easier than the fuse box BUT my only concern after taking my car in for a Squeak in the center console I spoke to the service guy and he said Volvo state not to plug anything into the OBD permanently although other auto electrical guys I spoke with say it wont affect anything. Bit of a grey area I wonder around warranty ?

Would anyone else be concerned, I suppose they could say you messed with the fuse box …. I just don't want to pay 440£ for them to do it
