I could but then the car constantly nags me every time I get in that there are 'updates available' and it refers of course to the other umpteen countries that I haven't installed the map updates for.

It's just easier to do the lot (and satisfy my OCD at the same time!)

This lol, it drives me insane if I've got a single notification icon on my phone never mind my car telling me I have an update

I recently downloaded Benelux, Germany and France and installed them to my XC40. Took quite some time in the car but completed yesterday.

It would be much easier if you could download just the countries you need on a stick and transfer these to the car in one go. But you can't download two or more separate regions to one usb stick at the same time, unless someone has found a way to do this. Until now I just had to download and install the regions I wanted one by one.
I really don't need Russia or Kazchstan or Eastern Europe maps in my car, and if really necessary, I still could download them at that time.
Another solution would be if Volvo would make smaller regions to choose of, something like Central Europe which then included let's say UK, Ireland, The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France Italy, Spain and Portugal. I think most of us could do with such a Central Europe map.

Something like for example the Europe map for our V40 :

The road is more important than the destination.

That's what I described in previous post. I updated BNL, D and F. One update at a time.

Ive just finished uploading the latest NW Europe map update (V1243 2.68GB) to the car. It took a handful of local journeys (approx 1 hr of driving) plus another hour siting in the car to keep the ignition on to enable it to upload - so painfully slow! It took about half an hour to download onto my USB stick (USB3 to USB3) but alas no USB3 port in the car. I dont know how you guys manage it if you update the complete Europe map.

Curious to know which USB port you used. The one with or without white ring around it.

As I wrote, I updated France, Germany and Benelux and used both ports to see if that mattered. Even used 2.0 and 3.0 usb stick but all combinations so far took a long time to complete. France over 3 hours while I was driving.
