Driven more than 8000 KMS and it’s 8,4 litres per 100 KMS which is something like 33,6 MPG, not too bad for a T5.

Just for interest sake on this topic, the below website might be of interest to some. There are only 10 registered XC40s on it at the moment. I used this to keep track of my old Outlander (anything from 31MPG to 323MPG!).

Hi GerVO

So your display language is Dutch - presumably you're in NL or my bit of BE? Good to see your statistics - which driving profile did you use? Lots of ECO I suppose? Got my T4 last week and I'm on 11.5 litres so far, so I'm hoping to get closer to your figure in time.

Greeting All

First time poster and unable to make a decision on engine and would like some help.

I currently have a BMW 120d Auto (sorry) which is coming up for change and I get around 550 miles out of a tank.

Looking at a D4 Auto or T4 auto in R design Pro flavour but would like honest opinions on what engine to get.

I currently do about 50 miles town driving midweek and between 60-120 miles at a weekend when I go and see a relative who lives 30 miles away.

I do a trip to Cornwall once or twice a year but can share that out with the Wifes Merc so not really that important.

Can you advise what my best options would be engine wise given that I could end up doing about 12000 miles a year I am on the cusp of either petrol or diesel.

I am spoilt at the moment as I have lots of torque in my 120 (around 400nm) and am conscious that I wouldn't have the enjoyment of the low down pull.

If only Volvo did a FWD D4 I don't think there would be an issue as its the extra weight of the AWD that drops the mpg.

Thanks in advance.

So filled car back up today 35.68 litres for 252 miles this was mostly town driving in eco mode. The car was showing 28.6 mpg , using calculation equates to 32 mpg. Very pleasing results so far . I do admit to driving very conservatively always within speed limits and cruise control sometimes.

First time I have driven the car anywhere else other than around town, happy with the result today.

Now into week 3, did a grand total of 223 miles mainly short journeys of between 2 to 10 miles with two of approximately 25 miles each. On fill up it took 37.02 litres so that equates to 27.3 mpg whilst car is showing 28.2 mpg. This is pretty much as I expected as I do tend to put it into eco mode each journey. For test purposes I will leave it in comfort mode this week .

Done a few trips out now. Getting 36-39 mpg in comfort mode and 48-50 in eco mode over 40-70 mile trips. Fairly decent and better than what I thought I’d get considering earlier posts.

Can only share my experience in a D4. I love the engine. Its very responsive and on my daily commute (20 miles, motorway and A roads, averaging around 45 mpg. Very happy with that.
