They are all the same, dealer checked XC40's they had and a few people on here have confirmed the same. According to the XC40 wiring diagrams the box is the second fuse box.

Going by Ramzey's above photo, that looks like a Digital Amplifier for the sound system.

Ooer? Sorry for my delayed post. Been posting far too much so was resting!

I think the problem the guys are reporting is a missing black plastic box container. Maybe one of those parts on short supply recently? Just checked mine and as I mentioned in the main thread on this subject ....

viewtopic.php?f=11&t=489&hilit=Fuse+box#p4297

you should have to open up the black box using the clip fastener on top to get to the fuse box itself. All the wiring should be contained in the box. The box itself then ought to be covered by carpet.

Photo follows (not sure which orientation will come out). The label attached to the containing box is presumably it’s part number id.

I'm confused.

That thread talks about the left hand passenger seat. The exposed Harmon Kardon/"Fuse" box is under the drivers seat.

(Sorry - the lava and the sun really blinded the wife's camera).

Righto, thanks PJM/Chingford, however I am a little confused.

My car has standard sound, it's not Harman Kardon, nothing indicating HK on the box. So can someone confirm this box is just for the sound system (HK or standard)

If it's for the sound system, I don't really care if a passenger stamps on it, I do care however if it's a fuse box containing bit's critical to the car's running!

Yes - my apologies everyone. I hadn't clocked it was the driver side being referred to. Ignore my last post. Mine is the same, with perhaps a little more tape around the wiring. Its definitely a HK box. Tucked neatly out of the way. Don't think its a major issue. Photo to follow.

BTW with the seat in it’s normal position the unit is well hidden and well away from most rear passengers’ feet.

Seems to be a difference between the two boxes pictured, Chinf0rd's has a lot more fins on the top as well as the HK name. Ramzey's is standard sound, so a little different.

Does confirm the fact that it's an amp or something though.

If it's troubling you, it would seem that a couple of zip ties to bundle the cables together would make it look neater.
