Thanks for the advice all. Pity the Volvo isn’t quite going to fit the bill as I do like the look of it.

Agree with the last two posts regarding mpg and diesel, l would be looking at an alternative, could I suggest that you check out mk2 vw Tiguan similar size and plenty of diesel options about.
Good shout. I also had my eyes on Audi q3 post 2018 which has all the tech I’d like and lots of diesel options. Downside is the cost for the year/mileage I’d be looking at vs the xc40.

Look at the VW T-Roc, technically the sane as the Audi, and quite economic.

Also worth considering Toyota/Lexus as you get a 10 year warranty for peace of mind.

Skoda Octavia or Superb Estate - great comfort, decent amount of tech and if you can look beyond the badge mega value for money

I’ll second that👍🏼
I switched from a Superb to the XC40 as I wanted to try the SUV experience. The Superb was superior in every way with the possible exception of seat comfort.
I’m in the process of researching the new Superb Mk4 and will most likely be placing an order later this year…

I had a Superb 280 L&K for a year. Decent car, and surprisingly quick, but a dead turbo at 4 years old with 30k on the clock resulted in a 2 grand bill. Put me off a bit.

Decent MPG what you are looking for? Afraid you are in a wrong topic... Xc40 is everything but fuel efficient.

I came from a Hyundai Tucson Ultimate 230. Very good self charging hybrid with 5 year warranty and average of 50 mpg possible. But in many other respects, I prefer the XC40.
