Just look at the diagram from the owner’s manual, how temperature and speed affect range. Driven at constant 80 mph the advertised range will decrease at least 40%. No wonder Volvo advertises primary city range besides the mandatory mixed value WLTP range, the slower you drive the more range you get, 20mph being the ideal speed. Low speed city driving is where EV’s have the best use scenario, multiple braking / one pedal driving also recharging the battery.

Wow!! Thanks, looks like each motorway trip will require at least 1 pitstop.

3p a mile if on cheap rate electric and don't forget the BiK 😀

We've done 3500 since 14th Nov when it landed, rough maths for costs on 9p KWh charging at home means £111*.
Of course there's been a couple of times I've had to charge at the day rate 31p and a few quick turnarounds at more like 80p at public charging and one when I had to use the M3 for a trip as couldn't fast charge!

*I expect the full cost for that 3500 to be less than £200 in total.
230mi range currently, probably 250-260mi in better weather.

There is a lot to like about EV's and how they drive, and the choice of EV or full Hybrid was a bit of a dilemma. In the end, head ruled the heart and full non plug-in Hybrid won out. Much cheaper to buy and insure. At 9.6p per mile V's EV 5.7p per mile, would take over 200k miles to recoup price difference. When fuel is needed it's available on demand, and within 10-mins, back to a 500-mile range.
