The VOC plan does not renew with a dealer service, only the breakdown & recovery services renew for free with each service. VOC is free for first 3yrs from new, then renews for a fee every 2 years.
That’s how it’s worked for me anyway…

Renewed mine through the app as it expires start of March after 3 years use...cost £34.90 for a year subscription. Hoped to get it free when car serviced but I have service plan so not included.

Thanks fir the pointer, Hadn't seen that small terms in there. I guess the amount I saved having 5 years servicing so cheap (£599) I can afford to pay the small charge for the app.

Rifleman, yes it does, but you have to ask them to do it. At first there was a bit of a blank look followed by confirming that the breakdown service would be extended. When I replied No I mean the app on my phone, she seemed to cotton on (deliberately?) and the following day the expiry date on my phone app was extended by 12 months

An update on this. My subscription is due for renewal again, £34.95 for 1 year or £60 for 2 years.
My car was serviced at the main dealer two weeks ago. I don’t have a Volvo Service contract but I do have a 3rd party service contract (EMAC) arranged through my dealer.
I have contacted Volvo Customer Services to clarify the “free 1yr renewal if serviced at main dealer” as their website says you don’t get the renewal if you have a “Volvo service contract”.
They told me that this exclusion applies to any service contract, you only get the free renewal if you pay for a full price service. In other words the “free” renewal actually means the £34.95 is just added to the service bill at the end of the day…

Had my year 3 service yesterday (paid for), and the renewal is list as "included in service"

I had the third year service under a 5 year service plan and App which had just expired renewed at no cost, Volvo garage just needed to download some software which reactivates it for free.

Sounds like it’s just luck of the draw if you get the renewal or not then

This is what I have, they forgot to do it at the service so I take it in tomorrow morning for them to load some software then it should renew.

No idea what software they are loading but it is purely for the app renewal.
