Level of the Parcel Shelf

Does anyone know how to raise the level of the parcel shelf when the boot is open?
I keep banging my head on the edge of the shelf when trying to put anything in to the boot.

If your car is equipped with power tailgate you can increase the height of opening and the shelf will also move higher. From the Owner’s Manual:

If the rear door is opening to max, there’s no real way then of lifting the parcel shelf higher ..

That’s a good idea from Felindre. You could tie a knot on the lift cord portion found under the shelf and the opened boot door will position the shelf higher by an inch or two.

If mine is anything to go by there is little scope to shorten the lift cords. When the tailgate is fully open the shelf sits about 1cm away from the bodywork at the top of the hatch, shortening the cords will result in the shelf making contact and getting stuck on the bodywork…

Remove the lift cords : the shelf will stay lower than your head while you can still put things into the boot.

I always remove the parcel shelf. With tinted rear windows it's hard to see what's in the boot and anyone that interested will break in anyway.
