Greggspies, I've done the same as you and now run at 33psi.

Of course, you get a more cushioned ride with lower pressure, but 38psi is not over inflating an XC40 tyre, and again, to suggest you will "bounce all over the road" at 38psi is just plainly incorrect, probably 20psi you may?? - come on guys - at least try and be factual about these important things??

I'll give it a go dropping to 33psi - before I replace them - but I'm not holding my breath.
As for driving style it's a leisurely drive without hooning around corners ( which is why I'm more surprised at the poor grip levels ).

Well the continental eco 6's do seem to have a poor rating on wear, so maybe its just the soft compound at fault, and if that were so, reducing the pressure may probably make it worse - if wear is your priority then the Primacy 4's should be much better!!

And yet on their actual website "TyreReviews" on testing of the Continental EcoContact 6 they scored them a wear score of just 51% and the Primacy 4's 81% - so is low good and high bad??? Either way Primacy 4's were the No-1 choice!!

John, the higher the Tyre Pressure the Harder the Tyre making it more prone to "Bounce".

Yep I can get that, we used to over-inflate ball's as children to make them bounce better - but to suggest you will bounce all over the road if you inflate your XC40 tyres to 38psi, which is what is recommended for economy, is false. Yes it will be a firmer ride, and perhaps a too firmer ride on 20" rims - but on 18" rims there is no obvious bounce apparent

Same tire will have different test results depending on tire size and vehicle weight, therefore you should look at tests with similar tire size as yours on a SUV. The most relevant test for EcoContact 6 is the 2020 ADAC SUV summer tire test done on 235 width, that’s the closest you can get to your 235/55 R19 tires. https://www.tyrereviews.com/Article/20 ... e-Test.htm

I have eco contact 6 factory fitted 235 50 R19v and I have done 13,000 miles and I still have about 2mm above the wear indicator remaining. I will be replacing with the same tyres when the time comes I have had no problems whatsoever with the michelins.
