It is very interesting how many people are happy just to accept some faults - especially software problems- and some want it 100% (like me!).
What I do find frustrating that a lot of these problems are present and have been for some time - why haven’t Volvo sorted them out by now?
My dealer says not had experience of some of my faults - when I keep telling them I’m not the only one why don’t they contact Volvo before my car comes in - they won’t.
They also know by now I’m not going to accept anything not perfect.
I’ve kept them informed by email of progressive problems- emailing service manager and dealership manager.

I have run a business for over 40 years and well aware of how unrealistic the public can be with complaints- believe me, the customer is not always right. The faults with the car are not the dealership’s faults.
However my dealership has made so many mistakes such as not supplying car as ordered to paperwork and payment errors it has been so frustrating- I have had verbal and written apologies from the salesman and the owner - but I’m still getting more problems.
I also realise there are two sides to every complaint.

Me again!

You've (or your finance company) have bought the car from your dealer. You haven't bought it from Volvo.

If you'd bought a Sony TV from John Lewis & Partners and it was faulty who would you seek recompense (refund or replacement) from? You would rightly go back to John Lewis & Partners. You wouldn't contact Sony. Your contract is with the John Lewis not Sony.

Same with cars, it's the dealer not Volvo.

I don't understand the fixation of whether or not your issue has affected anyone else. Why should it matter. TV analogy again - if MY TV broke why is a concern if someone else's TV has broken.

The dealer is not concerned of anyone else's problems, just yours. They are ignoring your other people's car concerns, and links to websites because they aren't bothered. As I said earlier keep it very matter of fact, don't bring other issues into the mix. It's your car, your concerns just let they deal with that.

Sorry for the rant, just trying to help.

...as I said at the start "or financial company". You or finance company - same deal. Volvo are out of this equation.

Talking of TVs, I bought an LG plasma TV from Currys a few years back - which failed 2 years later just after the warranty expired. It couldn't be repaired and checking forums then repair specialists then the internet I could only track down ONE spare for the failed circuit board anywhere in the world (it was somewhere in Russia!) and LG were not making any more. Currys could do nothing about it so I went back to LG direct and demanded that they sort it out, as they had officially stated that they would maintain spares for 5 years. After a bit of haggling a new free 50" smart TV was delivered, bigger and better than the plasma set.

Just mentioned it because sometimes dealing with the manufacturer directly can work - if you are arguing from a position of strength!

About 50 years ago my father bought a new Rover. After a very short time one of the switches broke and for some reason he could not get a replacement.
As he lived only a few miles from the Rover plant, he drove there - the security guard would not let him through. He then demanded to see the Chairman - and refused to leave till he did so. After some perseverance he was eventually let through and escorted to a room. My father explained again the reason for his visit and his disappointment. The gentleman asked my father to wait a short while, returned and shook his hand offering sincere apologies - guess what was transferred from one hand to the other during the hand shake!!
