Hi all,

Took delivery of the car on Friday and are slowly but surely getting to grip with all the features, the issue we are currently having with is the download centre - it currently says "no connection to service" and has been that way since we got it.

I have connected the vodafone sim card that came with the car, and have gone through the settings to make sure its connected - the sim symbol is showing at the top left of the centre console.

So what am I doing wrong? anyone else had this problem?

Cheers all.

I can’t remember the setting exactly but under settings car modem make sure Auto APN is ticked. If you can’t find it let me know and I’ll got outside to mine and check for you

Also have you enabled car hotspot and connected with a device? You need to visit

https://internetinthecar.vodafone.com/m2miitcfo/faces/login.html

And create an account to activate the service

Hi again,
Sat in the car, gone into communication - car modem internet - ticked the box - network - mobile data - ticked automatically detect.

Should I tick the box next to data roaming?

Network operator is showing up as vodafone uk.

The SIM card PIN has "disable PIN" ticked.
When i go into the car wifi hotspot options - the box is ticked and my phone connects to it, but my phone won't open any web pages etc.

I will now try the link posted above - see if that helps.

Forgot to say - the only "app" that appears to be installed is the Volvo on call.

Problem is, I can connect to the car hotspot, but I can't visit that link on the device because there's "no internet" even though it is showing the symbol as connected to the wifi.

Apologies, Im a bit thick at stuff like this.

I had the exact same issue.. dealer hadn't done the second half of the Vodafone set up of the SIM at handover..

Look at the attached. Chances are your dealer has done all the first bit.. but not the second.

Warning though.. it can take up to 5 mins for the globe to appear when your trying to connect to your car when you have it as the WiFi hotspot.. be patient. Just sit there in the warm with your engine running.

Just sit.. and wait.. for the globe bit to appear.. I did set up my phone as a WiFi hotspot and connect the car to it.. saw the globe, then disconnected and kicked off the car as WiFi hotspot.. after a good 5 mins the globe appeared. When I the connected on my phone, after a moment or two my phone took me to the Vodafone page. Same as if you connect to a hotel WiFi and it asks you to log in.

When I got my car it didn't have a SIM installed. All the downloads were done by the in car SIM-less connectivity. The car came will ALL the standard Volvo Apps - Spotify, Tune In, Weather etc. A rather paltry selection of Apps if truth be told.

So without a SIM I had the full selection of Apps and the VOC connectivity, to enable me to send SatNav destinations, start the car etc.

The only thing I didn't have was sufficient data to use the apps - stream music, and bring in traffic info for the SatNav. So I bought a SIM. Installation was easy. However I then discovered that Volvo were offering a free 100gb SIM, so off I went to get that.

Installation of that SIM was NOT easy. My dealer had a list of instructions that HAD to be adhered too even though some of the instruction weren't intuitive e.g. I had to tick roaming even though I have no intention of using it. (The previous SIM, the one I'd bought) didn't need roaming to be activated.

I would recommend obtaining the written instruction from your dealer and following it point by point.

Edit:
I see now that I've posted that the instruction has been posted. Just follow that, you won't go wrong 😀

Many thanks for the reply, most appreciated all!

Ive had a glass of wine with the sunday tea, and think it might not be the best time to get stressed following those in depth instructions......

Will muster some enthusiasm and have another crack tomorrow, got wine on the mind now. :P
