Well I’ve shown the boss (wife) and she likes the colour - all is good in the world!

Thanks for posting your car looks fantastic, I can’t wait to get mine now!! 9 weeks to go!!

Just to give an idea how the light or sun affects the color :

Taken at the dealer when I ordered mine. Left is Thunder Grey and right is Osmium Grey. As cameras change colours (white balance, your screen, etc) I left the black to compare and the wall is white. Still not an accurate representation but you can compare both shades of grey

I just took delivery of a Thunder Grey XC40 R-Design Pro (1 week ago). I had originally ordered it in Osmium Grey but was subsequently told the MY2020 had a new colour called Thunder Gray. The dealer I was purchasing the car from had told me it was the same, just a name change.

When the car arrived I have to admit I was disappointed with the colour - it is much more blueish and lighter than the original Osmium Grey I thought I was going to get it in.

So be careful when ordering, triple check on the colour and whether you like it if you choose to go for Thunder Grey. The Volvo website configurator is also misleading as the Thunder Grey shows much darker than in reality.

See pictures of theThunder Grey (first pic) vs Osmium Grey (second pic) and you'll immediately notice they are much different. I am now in talks with the dealership on the lack of clarity provided on this.

I think thunder grey is nicer than osmium grey but they are both too dark IMO. I have ordered the glacier silver.

Thanks for the photos and comparison. Dealer were clearly wrong in stating it was a name change. I originally wanted Osmium Grey and went for Thunder Grey but last week made a last minute change to my order to the Glacier Silver. The Thunder Grey looks very matte and very similar to my current Atlantic Grey X1 so I’ve gone for the lighter silver otherwise it’s another few years of a very similar colour. Hope you get some sort of compensation for your dissatisfaction.

I have ordered Pebble Grey in the MY20 model arriving in July . Has anyone seen Pebble Grey in a XC40?
I had to choose from the paint sample at the showroom. Looked grey at the dealers but appears champagne colour in photos of other Volvo models online.

I too changed from Thunder Grey to Glacier silver. The spec builder online has Thunder Grey looking like a gun metal grey; quite deceiving with the car being in the shade.
