I would also go for the xc60 t8, price difference is around 8-9K € but aince my wife will mostly drive it.... she doesnt want another big car. She even says that the xc40 is big... and yes we have 2 kids 4&6 yo.
My dealer has kept a car which will be build in the next 4 weeks, but i havent deposit anything yet. I am also looking the peugeot 3008 Hybrid4... the 4x4 ability as well as the power stats, hp, torque, 0-62 etc is aomething that i cant easioy ignore. Plus the bigger battery.
On the other hand, Xc40 is a different brand, more serious, different apeal etc.
Edit:
@dalgir:
You are 70% lucky that you did avoid the disco. 2016 models were.... well the only thing that they manage to do right was the quite cabin...
When i change the motor which i paid for.... i went to the service, and saw 10 new motor boxes in a row... Replaced headlights, rear lights, b pillar rattles ( never fixed that), broken seat and i am only 83Kg, forgotten washers on the front and rear seats, forgotten rubbers on the right lights, dead battery in the 1st 35Km, and much more.... Never again! Have changed more than 6 cars till now, Toyota, Peugeot, BMW, Audi, LR, VW, never seen that before.

And yes we pulled the trigger. Xc40 T5 Inscription, denim blue with with Aber seats, panoramic, parking sensors, camera, tow ball, alarm safety packages etc.
Cant wait to receive it.
What car are you changing from?

I currently lease a XC60 T5 AWD in Momentum spec, it's a great car but to renew into another lease with the equivalent spec it's gone up quite a bit so looked at any SUV type of vehicle with a decent spec at a reasonable monthly cost but not very many deals out there. I have gone for the XC40 FWD B4 Inscription which is the new mild hybrid petrol engine, the car should be delivered by the end of the year or early New Year, I have chosen Pebble Grey with Blonde Leather interior so should look good.

Changed from a 67 plate Golf GTD. Not doing the mileage now to justify another diesel. Wife wanted something that you had to brake to go around corners and she loves the look of the XC40.
B4 Inscription Pro Auto. Pebble Grey.

Had a 2018 VW Tiguan 2.0 TDi 150 DSG 4Motion - great car actually but just fancied a change and really liked the look inside and out of the XC40. Wish I’d gone for the AWD version now - Had all sorts of trouble getting up the drive in the recent snow which was unexpected (both the snow and the lack of grip).
