Averaging 32 mpg with mixed motoring in my T4 AWD. Highs of 38mpg on 30mile or so motorway runs. Hoping to crack 40mpg (perhaps 45mpg?) with a 300mile + run to Cornwall soon.
edit: made 41mpg today (25 Feb) on a 40 mile motorway journey - mostly Comfort mode, some Dynamic
T4 AWD
MPG - Again :-)

im on nearly 25,000 miles now and over that im averaging 40mpg.

XC40 FE D4 ordered in White with 20's... might be lucky and have it in May
My commute has around 70 miles of motorway, so it does enhance to my mpg figure by quite a lot Monday - Friday.DB2k wrote: ↑Mon Feb 24, 2020 9:21 am Surprised at the difference from T4 to T5. My display average is around 28 at the moment. Obviously with a lot of motorway it goes up but I didn't reset it for Cornwall the other day. I certainly don't think my general work commute, probably having 20-30 miles of motorways is getting anywhere near 33mpg
Maybe I'll reset it again and see
I can’t lie I’m not really bothered about what mpg I get as anything is better than my other car, an Audi S5 which averages around 12-13mpg

I was averaging 6.4l/100km = 44 MPG but since my latest service and a new set of tyres (same brand/spec as before) it has increased to 6.8l/100km = 41.5 MPG

Out of curiousity what mileage did you get out of your initial set of tyres? Presume this was your first service, 12 months doesn't seem a long life.XC40Warwick wrote: ↑Thu Feb 27, 2020 8:45 am I was averaging 6.4l/100km = 44 MPG but since my latest service and a new set of tyres (same brand/spec as before) it has increased to 6.8l/100km = 41.5 MPG
In the UK most of my round trips are 20-25 miles on rural roads and after just under 8000 miles my average consumption is 32mpg. Best ever mpg from full tank to full tank was 49.7mpg recorded while driving through France on holiday last year, mostly motorway. Average while driving around on rural roads during the holiday was 42mpg, probably down to their 50mph limits and empty roads.XC40Warwick wrote: ↑Thu Feb 27, 2020 8:45 am I was averaging 6.4l/100km = 44 MPG but since my latest service and a new set of tyres (same brand/spec as before) it has increased to 6.8l/100km = 41.5 MPG
My previous car, a 2l Diesel FWD saloon returned about 63mpg on their motorways and 53mpg on rural roads.
Very disappointed with the Volvo regarding fuel consumption.

Cant hugely disagree but the comparison might not be valid here - your car weighs what 1800kg?
A saloon might weigh 1400kg?
It's not surprising carrying 5 more people would affect the economy

Yes, the XC40 is my first SUV, first automatic, first AWD so quite a new experience for me. I didn’t expect it to match previous cars but still expected a little more mpg than I’m getting, foolishly believing Volvo’s published figures.
I’m not a fan of the XC40 auto gearbox either, way too sluggish when moving off from a standstill for me. Even if you give it the boot it just results in a huge increase in revs with little to show for them acceleration wise from 0 to 30. On the other hand it is very smooth at cruising speeds with excellent acceleration 30mph upwards.
I’ll be going back to a saloon, petrol, DSG when the PCP on this one runs out...

I seem to be getting a similar average 32, with highs of 41. Odd when you consider mine's a Petrol T4 AWD Auto. I'd be disappointed if were a D4 with similar consumption.
I drive mostly in Comfort, some Dynamic, and let the box sort itself out i.e. no use of the manual paddles.

If you drop it into performance mode its WAY more responsive gearing wise. Well.. my T5 is.
And I am getting sub 30mpg
