I cant get more than 34mpg even on a 100mls + run, even with eco and driving like a saint, its hopefully going in for a 3 mth check in a few days i'll see what they say about the mpg. Not impressed after 2500miles expected it to improve, Fortunately the rest of the cars overall performance makes up for the slightly low mpg.
First Edition T5 20” wheels not just a 245bhp 4x4 ipad.
Its a 250hp, AWD, SUV with aerodynamics of a brick... what fuel consumption were you expecting??johnbluerio wrote: ↑Tue Jul 31, 2018 5:55 pm I cant get more than 34mpg even on a 100mls + run, even with eco and driving like a saint, its hopefully going in for a 3 mth check in a few days i'll see what they say about the mpg. I had an XC70 D5 that didnt do much better than that!
Just wondering if there's any air con factor in some of the lower than anticipated mpg some are mentioning. We've had a lot of unusually warm weather lately so I'd imagine the air con has been working pretty hard. Have read a few things about possible reduction of up to 25% (not XC40 specific) particularly on short journeys but not exactly sure what is true and what isn't.

That is a very good point, in my opinion.ste12 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 01, 2018 2:33 pm Just wondering if there's any air con factor in some of the lower than anticipated mpg some are mentioning. A good test would be for somebody, who already has their car, to carry out an experiment without the air conditioning on over say 100 miles (also windows closed and sunroof shut, where applicable).
Any volunteers? It would be nice to know.

Getting just over 40mpg average in my D4 over the first thousand miles - mainly motorway / autoroute but with a lot of short trips in between.
This is a long way down on the Golf I traded up for but, as someone up-thread said, it’s a 2 litre lump pulling a heavier, larger car.

I discovered yesterday an “eco” air con option in the depths of one of the settings screens. I assume that’s intended to lessen the impact on fuel efficiency, and it’s existence suggests they know the impact is non-trivial.ZED wrote: ↑Wed Aug 01, 2018 2:46 pmThat is a very good point, in my opinion.ste12 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 01, 2018 2:33 pm Just wondering if there's any air con factor in some of the lower than anticipated mpg some are mentioning.
