It might be helpful not just to consider mpg but how many miles people are getting from a full tank (assuming the Volvo has a 50 litre tank??). The reason I suggest this....I have a polo bluemotion with a claimed 80 per gal from the manufacturer. I usually see figures in the high 50s to early 60s. However, doesn’t matter what the figures show (and the can hit as high as 75mpg), I usually fill up a 40 litre tank every 500 miles or so. The figures I am therefore seeing on the trip computer are wildly inaccurate to the point of meaningless. I have a feeling that the xc40 trip computer is more aggressive the other way and folks are getting more mpg than the trip computer is suggesting. To back this up, quite a few people have posted saying an app shows better figures than the car shows.
I have been keeping tabs on each fill up via a spreadsheet. The stats tally almost exactly with the VOC app and the car - 41.6 mpg. If the tank is 54 litres as advertised then a tank full takes me 494 miles.Beeko Bill wrote: ↑Mon Jul 30, 2018 3:49 pm It might be helpful not just to consider mpg but how many miles people are getting from a full tank (assuming the Volvo has a 50 litre tank??). Two XC40s - so far! Inscription Pro T5 AWD Auto - Glacier Silver/Blond/21”, fully loaded, from Jan thro Sep 2021. Polestarred. Also one of the first FEs - a D4 AWD Auto - Bursting Blue/Charcoal/20" from Mar thro Aug 2018. Also Polestarred.
Boy am I going to miss my Skoda Superb 2.0Tdi 150ps!
It has a 66l tank and does an average of 49mpg urban and 60mpg on a long run, giving a range of 711 to 871 miles.
Will have to start planning my trips through France with refuelling in mind. I do a return trip Nottingham to St Ives Cornwall on less than a full tank...

Averaging 35mpg on a D4 FE. I was averaging around 36-38 on my old (well 2016) XC60 D5 Polestar, so I'm disappointed a newer, lighter car with smaller, more economical engine isn't achieving more. I assumed I had a problem until I saw everyone else was getting around the same, or worse. Wonder what Polestarring the D4 will do....?
Just over 4000 miles and showing 32.0mpg. Mainly in Eco mode. I’m also doing the St Ives run in a few weeks time and looking to see what a long run on the M25, M4, M5 and. A30 brings. (M25 being the unknown )

D4 FE 7700 miles and 47mpg average according to VOC which feels right, I tend to calculate consumption for most fills- I do mostly motorway runs at 75mph and I’m pretty easy on the right foot. I regularly get over 500 miles between top ups.
