What is the performance increase for the T3 engine? I can't find it in the configurator..

In planning for a possible Polestar upgrade, I contacted my insurance company today. They quoted zero change to the premium but would charge an admin fee. Fair enough I thought.

What are you hoping for from the upgrade? Serious question, I’m a bit sceptical of getting performance gains for no other cost (obviously exc the polestar cost) so I imagine performance improvements may come at the expense of increased fuel consumption?

Well the theory is better mid range performance when needed, and no significant impact on fuel consumption or CO2 etc. if the XC60 reference stats are to be believed.

I assume if a driver “over utilises” the extra performance by constantly driving around in race mode then the theory will not hold. Probably depends, like in normal day to day driving, how heavily you use your right foot.

2018 XC60 T5 Figures with Polestar Optimisation
https://engineered.polestar.com/us/prod ... matic-2018

Power Mid-Range (hp) 172 198
Power Mid-Range (kW) 126 145
Torque Mid-Range (...) (lbs/ft) 258 295
Power & Torque Mid-Range max (rpm) 2000 - 4500 2000 - 4500
Power Peak (hp) 251 258
Power Peak (kW) 185 190
Power Peak (rpm) 5500 5700
Torque (.....) lbs/ft 258 295
Torque Peak (rpm) 1500 - 4800 2500 - 3500
Acceleration 0-100 km/h (s) 6.8 6.7
Fuel Consumption, city (l/100 miles) 25.3 25.3
Fuel Consumption, road (l/100 miles) 37.9 37.9
Fuel Consumption, mix (l/100 miles) 32.2 32.2
Emission (oz/miles) 167 167

I guess XC40 will be similar to the XC60 above.
About a 15% increase to Mid Range power and torque
I think that 30-70mph would be more useful than 0-100km/h
All this coupled to an optimised auto-box re-config'd should offer more fun, fun, fun
The 3rd party re-mappers offer circa 290hp, but similar torque; given that peak power is at the red line, it's not really that important to me

Volvo Polestar seem to keep getting their lbs/ft and NM mixed up, in their torque tables

lbs ft & Nm not NM, they've got me at it
