Main finding (obviously I suppose) was a very significant difference in throttle response. I had tried a 50-70 push (I don’t usually when driving normally) on the way to the dealer to check the effect for comparison. There was quite a lag before it picked up. Now hardly any noticeable lag. Same for other tests at lower speeds.

Another way this improvement is helpful is when using adaptive CC (or Pilot Assist). In normal non-Polestar mode, when pulling out from behind a slower car to follow a faster car in an outer lane, the pick up is quite slow. No longer. A very zippy D4.

Also when heading through roundabouts on a dual carriageway and trying to maintain a decent steady speed, with AWD plus the Polestar the stickability and smoothness is notable.

Finally, although I was messing around and trying faster stuff than normal, I still got 42.2 mpg over the 20 miles.

So, while it was only over a short distance, and now needs a more thorough set of tests, I can already recommend the upgrade, especially at the discounted price of £695 all in. If in any doubt, the offer includes a 14 day trial/cooling off period.

Very tempted to get the Polestar optimisation.
Just waiting to hear back from Aviva to see what difference it will make to my premium.
What I'd ideally like is the throttle response of dynamic mode with the gear changes of the eco mode.
Shame it wont let you select that combination anyway.

Well spotted from my close up. I think what's wonky is the alignment of the AWD badge with the R-Design. That was done at the factory!

Admin fee seems standard (Admiral?), but 93p hardly seems worth their effort. Bet we see a difference for a renewal year!

I've been following this thread silently but with interest. Even the reduced price of £600-odd is a bit much. Now if I only had a £350 voucher but there were nothing wrong with my car (other than mats order cockup that persisted over two months and a bad polish) and the order was more or less on time, so can't grumble really. :)

FE.....and now fitted with Polestar!! Only done a 6 mile trip back from the dealership, but dynamic mode seems much more responsive. Not sure how the upgrade changes the other modes, but will feed back in due course. Interesting/hilarious conversation with insurance company - they didn't know what Polestar was and randomly asked if I would be changing the doors!!! They also forgot to tell me that it would increase my policy xs, so waived the admin fee - ended up with the additional cover for no cost!

Polestar fitted today see how it goes over next few days if much noticeable difference ?
Loaned me a xc60 d4 with polestar upgrade, must admit it had lots of power and torque throughout the range, but couldn’t compare to standard as not driven one before.
