Shaenei - He was sorting out your paperwork ;)

Bob
He was mate, 7 day insurance documents cane through this afternoon so finally got my reg and was happy to see it stated first edition on that.

I asked about polestar on Tuesday but said they couldn't do it before I collected, might be a good thing that if the upgrade does affect the T5 but obviously we have conflicting info from dealers.

He asked how I liked my Polestar, to which I replied that as it is so long since I drove the T5 demo car I've nothing really to compare it to. It'll be interesting to see if you notice much difference as you'll be driving for a short while without it.
Ordered 24th February 2018: XC40, FE, T5, Crystal White, Lava Interior (additional black carpets), 19" wheels, mud flaps, Tow Bar, Polestar, was expected June/July, then 1st October.
Finally took delivery on 16th October 2018. 8-)

Will have to keep an eye on this one then! I hope he is just misguided for the sake of everyone who has already had it done! He came across as very confident about it though.

I'm not sure if I want him to be correct or not, on one hand if he is, then hopefully it will be more noticeable in comfort as well as dynamic as many have sugested.

On the other hand I think it should be a one time upgrade without the worry of it being out of date every year or so!

My XC40 T5 FE is due for collection this Friday with P*;
Having read the post regarding an updated P* software yesterday evening, I immediately sent an email to the sales chap, and the Product Specialist at Volvo(Hull)
The Product Specialist phoned me back, having checked all his dealer info systems, to confirm there was nothing mentioned on the dealer info systems regarding the update. He did also state that he had put a call into Volvo(UK) Product Support to confirm.
An hour later he phoned me back, to say YES IT IS CORRECT, and the updated software did relate to power distribution in the AWD models, between the front & rear axels.
This all ties in with posts about a month ago about MY2019 having the option of updated P* optimisation; What wasn't apparent was when the new software was to be released.
What the Product Specialist at Volvo (Hull) did say; that according to Volvo(UK) the updated P* had already been released (They thought); and that 1st Nov 2018 was just the official launch date for the P* update; similar to MY2019 cars being released way before 1st Jan 2019.
My dealer has promised to update me tomorrow.

Would I be correct in summarising your post as;

Your dealer originally thought no update was going to be available.

Now he knows of the update but at this stage is unsure if it is already being installed or not?'

Exactly that;
And my dealer (the Product Specialist person, not the sales person) did check all his "dealer only" Volvo product info systems to confirm; in-fact he did it whist talking to me on the phone.
So there was no way he could have known, Until he made direct contact with Volvo(UK) Product Support people to query this.
What he did not know, was when the updated P* software was starting to be installed/uploaded from.
Hopefully know more tomorrow
Obviously I want emailed confirmation I will have the newest planned P* optimisation.

I'm getting the impression from comments here people believe that once you've had your Polestar installed you can't get it updated? Surely it's just software, so can be updated whenever new versions come along, in the same way the rest of the car's software is updated. If so, no problem, updates will be installed whenever the car is next in for service.
XC40 T5 FE, Fusion Red, 20inch wheels.
Ordered 15th March. Delivery, originally June, delivered 26th October.

Your right it is purely just software, but I've not seen anywhere that states future updates are included in original purchase. Generaly speaking with car tuning if you want the latest available tune it inccurs a fee... Perhaps that's not the case with polestar I'm not sure?

Chris-croft did your dealer get back to you regarding this?

I had an email this morning confirming that my P* which was installed today, is defiantly the update version, so I'm happy with that.
I also got a phone call confirming this from the Volvo(Hull) Product Specialist, to confirm. He mentioned the "AWD Torque Distribution" being the difference (this is clearly mentioned on https://engineered.polestar.com/uk/upgr ... timisation).
Although my updated P* is confirmed, I did ask if older versions of P* would be automatically upgraded at service time for appropriate vehicles ..........Volvo(Hull) don't know
I also asked, actually which date the P* update was released for the dealers to download & install............ and again VW(Hull) don't know.
So all in all, not at all enlightening???
So will https://engineered.polestar.com/uk/upgr ... timisation be updated on the 1st Nov, we'll have to see?, but it seems to me that it is already updated because it mentions 2019MY vehicles under the "AWD Torque Distriution" tab.

I asked my dealer the following questions:

"In future, if they update the Polestar, is the upgrade available to existing Polestar users?
And, if it is, does it get done at Service time free of charge as with any other software updates?"

The reply was:

"My understanding is yes you can"

He didn't answer the part about a charge, so I guess I'll have to wait and see.
