Also less things to go wrong, i,ve had previous head lamp washer covers fly off/ blown off and washed off before 😂
Your safer without them people! 💦
Each to their own. Plus people affected are due their 350 quid if they want it.

Thanks guys for raising this thread. I discussed this issue with my dealer today as I traded my car in early and signed a new contract for the FE. He confirmed my FE D4 would come with the 19" wheels (which I don't mind) but wasn't sure on the headlight washers. He did seem aware of the £350 reduction for those without the washers though . Either way that's OK with me.

Just thought I'd call my dealer to confirm my order will be with 20" wheels and headlight washers. The response was "If we haven't contacted you to say otherwise you will be getting the spec as per original order". Given the reasoning behind not speccing all FEs with 20" wheels and headlight washers is shortages I find this statement odd. Anyways only have a month left to find out!

Thanks a lot for the memo.

My salesman said mine was the first one they had that was “misbuilt or missing something” - I am highly doubtful... He also said he was waiting for the corresponding department to get back and see what they could do. Everything sounded very vague, in fact he still hasn’t told me if the washers were in my car’s full order form. I placed my order back in Dec 17 and I suspect they didn’t actually place an order for my car until Feb or March when there was a clear supply issue for the washers/alloys. If you haven’t been told or dealer is vague, I guess you should actually ask your dealer for the full build sheet - see it to believe it I say lol.

True, if you have purchased them as an extra then yes you should have them or be refunded.
I thought that if your car had xenons or similar you had to have headlight washers by law?

Depends on the light output. Anything over 2000 lumens (from memory) requires a cleaning mechanism and self-levelling.
Cancelled after waiting 3 months to be told delivery will take 11 months.

Hi Alex - I thought this was urban Myth - I had a Porsche bought new with HID but no wash system (2010). I was advised by the dealer it was urban myth and I certainly had the car MOT’d with out issue.

Exert from MOT regs below

It’s EU regs, so type approval rather than MOT. I had the relevant articles somewhere but not immediately to hand.

I remember VAG dropped the light output from most of their ranges a few years ago to below the limit so as to avoid having to fit all the ancillary stuff.

Yup, just checked - still very much a thing. ECE Type Approval Regulation 48 if you can’t sleep one night and want something tedious to read.
