Mine fired last night for the first time. Still not sure what kicked it off.... I think white van approaching very fast from behind on inside lane at junction - I wondered if he cut in at last moment. I was stationary in outside lane turning right.

Not saying that you should look to get into this situation but the sooner it happens..... well you will be prepared for next time. Took me completely by surprise. Brake increased firmly, and seat belt tensioners kicked in. To say firmly held back into my seat would be an understatement, I could barely touch the wheel. Released about 2 sec's later and left wondering what had gone on.

Good feeling though that I wouldn't have been flaying around as much as I would have in a normal belt if it had been for real.

Not experienced this yet, hopefully it's not a regular occurrence! Nice to know it works at least, and activates prior to impact rather than on impact.

Ps. Welcome to the on the road club Boomer! (bit late I know aha)

Don’t let it happen too much there is a counter on it, think it’s about 70 not sure but there is a person with an xc90 on another forum who has had to have a new seatbelt unit fitted because it’s been activated so many times, probably due to fairly aggressive driving.
