Missing panel behind glovebox

We picked up our Inscription Pro XC40 T3 about a month ago and it looks to us like there should be a panel behind the glovebox (when you open it) but instead we can see components behind it.

The dealer claims this panel only existed on older models.

Can anybody confirm whether we are missing something? We wondered if it was removed as part of fitting a dealer option and forgotten to be put back.

It’s not easy to see but this is what you see when our glovebox is open.

I noticed that when I fitted my dash cam. I had nothing to compare it to so assumed it was normal.

As per jamie307, late 2020 B4 has panel fitted with light and air-con cooling button. Regardless of being out of sight, just poor quality and looks totally unfinished without the panel fitted

. Makes you wonder what other "out-of-sight" items have been deleted, for example, are any of the under panels missing, what is missing behind the dash or door cards? In my opinion it's just plain wrong to keep deleting items that should make the end product a trusted quality finished item. Would not have a new one and make you think that an 18-month on XC40 is the only one to have with any reassurance its put together with complete quality??

On my 2022 P8 the wiring underneath the driver's seat is clearly exposed when looking from the back seat. Would not have taken much to hide it.

It was gone by '21 my 21 B4 doesn't have the panel.

I've never notice the slot to put a key in before I saw it on your picture!

Mine is the same as yours uffexc40. Delivered July 2021. I can't see any need for a panel there.

I've never noticed anything present - or absent. Then again, leaning across from the driver's side, I wouldn't.

Pic of mine, MY22, and a screengrab from the manual (LHD car, obvs). Looks like mine is missing the panel but I'd do my back in trying to really see it.

I avoid that at all costs so it's one Volvo cost-cutter I can live with.
