I have bought a spare wheel kit from a XC40 owner via Ebay.
There is nothing on the boot floor to take the wheel retainng screw.
On the boot floor there is a slot but no nut within the slot.
Can anyone help?
Thanks
Ian
Spare Wheel fixing issue

As you can see there is more than one type of boot floor. Perhaps someone with your type that lacks the raised mounting point and who bought an aftermarket kit online can explain how they managed to fix it.
Are you sure you bought the right kit? I think the floor changed for MY21.

Hello, I had exactly the same problem, see my original post on this. I complained to my dealer who gave me the supposed to be the correct fitting but this was no good. I eventually done a fix myself, I used an m12 bolt which should slide in to the slot you may have to grind a bit off the head thickness and then I locked the bolt in position with a 12mm nut and washer, I forget how long the bolt was but you have to drill and tap the threaded end to suit the locking ring I think it is m6, If I get time I will check the bolt I have made and take a photo, I was a machinist but have now retired otherwise I would have made one for you, Hope this helps.
I only have the gunge, but the pics are brilliant
Reminds me of the "cropped head" greenhouse bolts you have to use, if you're fitting stuff *after* it's been built, so can't access the strut slots from the ends.

That makes a certain amount of sense.
I was looking for a solution for the OP that didn't require machining skills.
I suspect you could make something like you've machined by using a somewhat shorter bolt than you've used, same diameter as the wheel fixing bolt, and adding a tie bar connector (and if necessary, an extra locking nut, or threadlok it) on the top to give the female connection.
