Seems random, maybe it's where it was built? Seem to remember there's a letter in the VIN that lists the build factory?

From viewtopic.php?f=8&t=2711#p23983 I found this:
Plant Code The 11th digit is the manufacturer’s plant code, The 11th digit is "2" for the Ghent factory.

Mine's 2 Ghent, and has insulation.

yep, what do they do when/ if they run out of old fishing nets - you can't really shred new ones that would not be recycling - maybe they just don't fit them and hope no one notices???

Where's my fishing net (recycled)? My 2022 Inscription Pro B4 FWD has no insulation! Mind you at least it doesn't smell of recycled fish.

Thanks all for your feedback. I'll be onto my dealer now I've some facts and a couple of photos. A car at that cost with a piece missing is a bit naff.

Contacted my dealer yesterday after reading this thread, she checked 3 new xc40 including B4 and none of them had insulation fitted to the bonnet, could be a part shortage, more likely they are just not fitting it to save a few more pennies.

Would be a poor decision if it was only penny pinching, especially how the list prices have risen - Guess that's why they always have in the small print that they can change specification without notice - it seems an easy dealer fit though, and don't think any would refuse to fit one if they can get hold of one.

I would try to get em to fit is because as you say i'm sure they would as it would litterally take 5 mins and am sure the cost is pretty minimal to a volvo dealer.
Just so as you can have some more leverage.... mine is XC40 B4 R Design Pro, MY22,,, delivered 18th October 21 and can confirm mine has the under bonnet insulation
