You still can via Bluetooth

I guess my point is that if this was still coming, why remove all mention of it? With regard to bluetooth, this is true, but it will require interacting with (i.e. touching) my phone while driving which is both dangerous and illegal. Interacting with the touchscreen (or even Siri? - not sure how it is supposed to work) is a much better option. Anybody know why it is taking Volvo so long to implement this?

I'm going to guess it's in a long list of software issues and features in the P8 that Volvo and Google are addressing. They never say...

Volvo has told me that it will come in early 2022. Still doesn’t explain why they would completely remove it from the spec rather than changing the ETA for the update.

Perhaps, although no sign of it as an option at this point, and there are not really any options beyond the packaged trim levels - only colour, seat coverings, and tow bar. Very strange.

I believe Volvo are discontinuing leather in all their vehicles. I’m not sure why but it is probably something to do with global warming? The steering wheel is now described as “tailored”.

Yes, Volvo started removing leather from their cars for environmental reasons with the C40. This is obviously the next step in the process.

Environmental reasons they say... I've yet to see a good argument for making seat covers from fossil oil derived plastics rather than surplus to requirements cow skin. But if it keeps the vegans happy...
