So on 23rd April I ordered a XC40 T5 Hybrid Inscription pro Pebble grey, with blond interior and a few add-ons.

Delivery most probably before end May. 9th May E Mail from dealership stating delivery expected 19th to 29th June, Im OK with that.
Today 16th May. another E Mail, Expected delivery 9th to 16th July. So I reply saying if it gets beyond that then I don't want it till 1st September so its on a 71 plate ( is that unreasonable)'

Then 5 minutes later I get a further E Mail saying its expected that it wont move further forward but will probably come back.
I know its out of dealers hands but I cant get me head round how it works

Its like dangling a carrot just to keep you interested and telling you what you want to hear
So just wondering when the order goes in surely Volvo know as to when it will be built, to the day I would have thought because surely your order is just in a que.
So my question is how does it work? Thank you in advance

There will likely be delays due to the chip shortage. I know they have been putting back XC60 builds requiring BLIS, and I wouldn't be surprised if this doesn't also affect XC40s albeit being a different factory.

What’s the extras you’ve added on, I’ve been told by a few dealers that the blind spot and 360 camera are causing build delays

The extras are nothing fancy just spare wheel, supa guard and the rubber mat, muflaps and boot protection. I wouldn't have thought there would be much hold up there. Anyway it is what it is I suppose.

There are delays with seminconductor manufacture. This is could affecting things like the driver information screens behind the steering wheel.

Be thankful you've not oredered a Land Rover. A neighbour of mine has been told it'll be a year before he sees his.
