I seem to remember that when adding the spare wheel in the configurator it automatically added the flexible load floor, which I see is around £250 as a spare part.

I'm not sure that this is the answer to the question posed.

You can see from the pics that the car already has a load floor (in this case a conventional non-folding type), propped up on its stand.

The poster seems to be asking for another felt covering between the existing floor and the tyre. Hence my question of what benefit would an additional cover at that position serve.

If you don't have a spare you get a relatively flimsy felt cover with a storage space/moulded well. I think if you get a spare you don't get a flat felt cover.

It would be interesting to see if there is one available.

Nope, haven't a clue, just guessing there might be an alternative to the one that came with the car. What benefit?, tidyness i guess i don't like those big gaps behind the back seat.

Interesting too i got a flat one piece floor cover, but many reviews i watched all had the one that folded up with the bag hook. What version gets this floor?

I have the hard flat floor with the prop stand. I don't have a spare. But it's something I'm considering. I wasn't expecting there to be an additional felt covering. I hadn't noticed any gaps behind the seat, surely the existing hard flat floor hides any gaps. The flat floor would hide the spare.

The folding floor is an option. See Jamie307 post above.

The spare and associated fittings that come with the car are a lot neater looking that 3rd party spares, such as yours. The folding floor, when folded, would show off the gaps and wiring a lot

The gaps i'm referring to are under the flat floor. The lower secondary cover covers them. Oh and my spare wheel components are all OEM, sourced from Volvo.

Felindre wrote: Thu Mar 25, 2021 4:53 pm The kit I ended up with is a plain skinny spare, a jack, and a wheel spanner. A large foam chunk to hold all the tools and a strange foam disk the size of the tyre. This i don't understand where it goes. It may sit on top of the tyre under the lower boot floor cover, but as i haven't that cover either i can't tell.

Can someone who has a factory fit spare please help by providing the part number of the hard felt cover that goes over the spare, but under the hard boot floor. The cover i've taken out for no spare has a well towards the back so it won't go back in place, it has a number on a label underneath it.. Any pictures would also be helpful.

This is what i have...
Spare and tool holder

This is what i'm looking for (but without the well at the back) hopefully a part number on the underside?

From my experience it looks like you have the wheel and foam installed upside down.

The foam should be on the bottom. The wheel as you show it in the pic is upside down.

The outside face of the wheel should be nearest to the bottom with the wheel screwed to the floor of the car with the large plastic nut.

The factory fit spare looks nothing like this. In the factory fit the tools sit withing the tyre, not in a separate foam wedge.

But the main thing to take away is that you have the whole setup upside down.

Nope, i've got the B4 mild hybrid. Under the wheel inner is the hybrid battery. You can just about see the battery cover, and the hole for the lockdown screw you refer to just under the hole in the middle of the wheel. They also for this model supply a hold down strap rather than the screw.

The foam may well need to be at the bottom, it dies just fit around the battery. But the projections out from it catch at several points so it doesn't sit flat, and a projection covers the hole for the strap location, which leads me to believe that's not where it should be.

Unfortunately the parts department doesn't have a good diagram of it all which is why i'm reaching out to anyone with the B series engine AND a factory spare wheel.

I had same problem, had a flat afew days after pick up!
Got the space saver pack, about £200 at the time, but you have to remove the tray to fit the wheel. There is a part but was told its about £150 ish and very differcult to get.
In the end made my own from a spare bit of ply covered in car carpet felt. Had to step up at the back so things dont go under the seats but works well.
Original mounding packed away.

That's exactly the sort of thing I'm looking for, but would like a ready made if possible. You've also got the split floor with the bag hooks.

Taking a step back to answer Jeff651, this is what my underfloor looks like without the spare wheel.

IMG_20210326_103808.jpg

As you can see the battery stops the wheel being placed the 'normal' way round. Also, looking closely at the 'foam disk' there are bits sticking out that correspond with indents in the wheel well,

IMG_20210326_103940.jpg

EXCEPT this one, which fouls on a bracket which is for the battery support and I think new.

So I think the foam is for the non 'B' model.

Thanks for everyone's comments and help. I've got a clearer picture now. If anyone out there has the 'B' series AND a spare wheel, I'd still love to know what under the solid floor.

On the subject of spare wheel or not I like the concept of no spare. I know it can cause problems in certain circumstance.

I guess I've been lucky. I've been driving since 1976, and average around 15,000 miles per year. In all that time (45 years and about 630,000 miles) I've never needed a spare. I guess I should buy a lottery ticket 🙂
