I’m fully aware of what it says in the manual and I choose to ignore it. I’m saying that from my experience I get the impression that’s just the manufacturers covering their backs.
At the risk of being pedantic, my camera is not fitted inside the red zone in the illustration anyway. It’s top of the screen, 30mm from the binnacle on the passenger side and I’ve experienced no warnings or malfunctions of the safety systems in the 3yrs I’ve had the XC40.
Same here. That's where I fitted mine.
I don't use any of the driving aids anyway so everything is either disabled or turned off each time I start the car.

The camera looks identical with FitcamX, it seems like a copycat sold under another brand name. The dashcam footage is poor, it’s impossible to read the license plates of other cars in traffic. https://youtu.be/ooHrg7rgGKM
I ordered the OE Witness camera Friday (see earlier post) and was installed on the following Tuesday, back and front. Very pleased with neat installation and app simple to use with clear images. I avoided the ebay deal as these were old stock and not 4k

Wonder when manufacturers will upgrade their software to enable the already present cameras to record to the cloud with an app for user access?
Garmin already has this functionality, it’s called Vault Storage, available also on my DashCam Mini 2. https://www.garmin.com/en-GB/p/834481/
There’s also a new P-SIM dashcam from Garmin with 4G connection, it can upload footage to cloud when the car doesn’t have a Wi-Fi connection. https://www.garmin.com/en-GB/p/772586
As for software upgrades to allow an old camera to upload footage to the cloud, I don’t think that will happen.
