As I bought my XC40 'nearly new' (registered 09/2020), not new, I didn't have the option of the fantastic bargain of 3-years servicing for £399 or 5-years servicing for £599.
Just contacted my local dealer to see what is available and they've quoted £1,350 for a 3-year service plan (2021, 22 and 23).
They said that without a service plan, current prices are £350-380 for a year-1 service and £480-550 for a year-2 service.
The service plan quote gives figures for Y1 (£333), Y2 (£516) and Y3 (£266). Strange that Y3 is the cheapest year.
Seems like not much to be gained, but not much to be lost. Any thoughts?
Annoyingly, my car has decided that it needs it's 18,000 mile service in 24 days from now (at which time it will be 5 months old and with well under 3k miles). Was told by the dealership that sometimes when a car first touches Volvo UK on arrival in the UK, that triggers the service interval and it will keep nagging until the real service in 09/2021.
Servicing - costs and timing
I had a similar problem with first service interval. Bought the car new in north Scotland in December 2019 with a 3 year service plan. The pre-delivery section in the service document was stamped by a garage in Sunderland 05/07/19 and the first service was stated as being due 05/07/20. i.e. six months after purchase. The service reminder came up in the car in July 1920 but the dealer confirmed that the first service would not be due until December 2020.
I was concerned that the service book would show a period of 18 months between p.d.i and first service which could affect warranty, so the dealer agreed to replace the service book with one showing a p.d.i. date as the date of purchase.

Interesting, thanks.
The Volvo On-call app says my 1-year service will cost £310 if I book at my local West London dealer.
The proposed service plan budgets it at £333
The pleasant and helpful person I spoke to at the dealership told me that without a service plan I should expect to pay £350 - £380
But one has to get the stamps in the book to keep the warrenty alive, so I'll just shut up and pay up.

You don't need to go to the dealer to get stamps and keep you warranty.DanishPastry wrote: ↑Wed Jan 27, 2021 2:34 am Interesting, thanks.

D4 AWD - Y1 service was 253 GBP (February 2019), Y2 was about 350 ish (February 2020). Very reasonable compared to Citroen previously who were almost as expensive and provided 0 customer service. Bells of Northampton are my preferred dealer - always helpful, cheerful and excellent service.

The VoC app lets you select any dealer in the country, and then shows the list price of the service at that dealer. Checked the nearest dozen and they vary between £255 (authorised service centre) and £310 (dealer).
Anyway, NBD.
