Towbar electrics battery top up
Is anyone using the towbar electrics to keep their XC40 battery nicely topped up whilst it is idle due to lockdown in the UK? I've done it on other cars to connect a Ctek charger/conditioner to the towbar electrics..just wondered if XC40 electrics are the same?

No idea, but if the tow bar socket has a permanent live supply (normally pin 9 positive, pin 13 negative) I see no reason why it shouldn’t be used to charge the battery, as long as the charger’s maximum current is less than the rating of the fuse on that circuit.
If you wire your battery charger’s leads in the a 13 pin plug it allows a quick and neat connection without having to open the car.
If you have a PHEV there’s no need as the 12v battery charges when plugged in to charge the high voltage battery.
