This is just not true. You can see from the Volvo link that the free SIM has been offered since 2018. My car was bought and picked up mid 2019 and it came complete with a working Vodafone free 100gb SIM.

Must have been very late 2018 if that’s the case because the free Vodafone sims were certainly not available when I took delivery mid-October 2018.

Putting this all into context though, after spending circa £40k on my XC40, £36 for two years of internet connection in my car is peanuts. I replaced my first 3 sim this October having used less than 6Gb of the 24Gb allowance, all uk map downloads plus live traffic data, don’t use that Spotify nonsense. No problems with network coverage and the sim swap took less than a minute to perform. Can’t help feeling that the all the grumbling about the Vodafone sim is a storm in a teacup...

I'm about to replace my 3 SIM. My 2019 built car didn't come with a V sim as they were not available then in the UK via Volvo. That came later.

Many people, probably let down by their dealer's inability to set it up properly, do struggle with the Voda one. But when it is set up correctly it will give free data for 12 months. Thereafter you choose to pay Voda to extend it, choose a data sim from a different supplier, or forget the data thing if you prefer.

My RDesign T4 AWD delivered in June 2019 did come with a free Vodafone 100gb, supplied and installed by Volvo.

Only a small thing, and not really relevant to the discussion, I can't comment on other aspects, but worth saying to set the record straight.

So it's probably more correct to say your 2019 car didn't come with a SIM rather than all 2019 cars.
