I have only had the car a couple of weeks and recently noticed the car was not using the onboard SIM.
I contacted the dealer, who gave me a single sheet of A4 instructions. It looked pretty straightforward, how wrong was I, I could not get the car to link the SIM, now the SIM is locked.
I spent hours refreshing the internetinthecar webpage while connected to my XC40 hotspot, what a waste of two hours!
I have emailed the Dealer for help!!!

Has anyone managed to do this?

Go on amazon...buy a 3 network 'internet with legs' data only sim. They are on offer today if you're quick as already posted today in another thread.

Just plug the 3 sim in and it works. Forget the vodafone one IMHO

Yeh I’ve done it
Do not put the internetinthecar.vodafone.com into a search engine put it into the address at the top of the browser. You may have to refresh a few times. It’ll open the page for you to open an account. Once you open an account it should connect.
I did mine on an iPad but anything with a browser should be fine

Thanks for the comments.
I did exactly that Chris, tried with iPhone 7, iPad, MacBook Pro.
I could not get the webpage to open after many many many refresh attempts:(
My Dealer rang me today to say their SIM specialist will ring me Monday.
I may have a duff SIM!

This seems to me to be more of an issue with the network provider than the sensus system. We don’t get free SIM here in Finalnd so I just put a working data SIM in the slot under the boot floor and that was it. No setup needed at all.

There are plenty of threads on the forum covering this you'll find the search function a great help. It is a shame your dealer didn't set the vodafone sim up for you...it's a crap dealer not a crap car. If you want the simple fix....get on amazon and order a "internet with legs" data only sim on the 3 network. Just fit it and everything works. The Vodafone thing just aint worth the hassle if the dealer hasn't set it up for you. Quick fix then enjoy your Volvo..or trade it in for a Kia?

I finally got to the problem with my SIM.

I spoke to Vodafone internetinthecar

This is what they sent me..

Ref setting for Modem.

On your vehicle dashboard please go to settings - communication - Car Modem Internet should be ticked
Click Network - Data Roaming should be ticked
Click Mobile Data - Automatically detect should NOT be ticked
The APN should read acf.internet.uk.ott
You can leave the username and password blank.

My APN wording did not match!!!!
Remember to hit confirm....

Also when you do get connect, you have to click buy a package and go for the three month free trail, it then gives you the twelve month package..

Non of this rings a bell with what happened when I set up the Vodafone SIM. But glad you got it sorted.
After the year with the free Vodafone SIM I've now moved onto the 3 network SIM from Amazon. I had no issues with either SIM card. They just worked.

I will be following you on 3!
I have no idea why Volvo or Vodafone do this, surely it is easier just to have the credit preloaded and activate once you pop the SIM in!

Anyway, touch wood that is the only problem I have had 🤞🏾. We are Just looking forward to a restriction free drive🙏
