Hello all,

I currently have a 3rd generation L322 Range Rover with a 5.0L V8 supercharged engine, so quite a powerful beast. I'm really liking the XC40 and have been thinking for sometime about not having such a big car as the RR. For the XC40 I'm thinking model level Inscription / Inscription Pro and a B4 or B5 or even the Recharge PHEV version for engines. Some of these questions I'm sure would get answered with a dealer visit and test drives but nearest dealer is a little way away and COVID restrictions make things less easy these days so hoping there are some knowledgeable people on here.

Questions:

- Anyone gone from driving a RR to the XC40 and how do you find it?
- Am I correct from reading the specs that only the Inscription Pro gets an electric passenger seat?
- Would I be able to get a couple of sets of golf clubs in the boot without lowering any of the split rear seats?
- How are the engines I've mentioned for motorway type over-taking acceleration?
- Anyone with a PHEV able to comment on long journey fuel economy? My driving profile is probably about 100miles a month on short around town type journeys of no more than 10-20 mile round trips so if I keep the PHEV charged I assume this will mostly be on battery. Twice a month I do a 250 mile round trip (so 125 each way) the PHEV would start each way of this trip fully charged and the trip is mostly motorway with a bit of town either end. I'm used to about 20-22mpg on that trip from the RR so interested what I'm likely to see from a PHEV
- Anyone using the Volvo Care leasing package, how do you find it?
- The PHEV is only FWD any driven a FWD XC40 in the ice/snow in UK with only the factory fitted tires i.e. not winter ones and how did it perform?

Many thanks
Chris.

I switched from a Porsche Cayenne S 4,5L V8 with proper 4wd (including locking center diff and low range) to a T5 Recharge.

Apart from the smaller size (obvious) lack of V8 sound (also obvious) and FWD only I have been very happy. I'm also very happy with my average 2.7L/100KM fuel use compared to my average (over 2 years) of 24L/100KM in the Porsche (my wallet is much happier)

I have driven my Recharge on 3-400km trips and get approx. 7L/100Km on those journeys.

Daily use is pure electric charging only overnight at home. In Pure mode the car says 45KM range but I find I get closer to 52KM

In Hybrid mode it does take some time for the petrol engine to kick in for over taking etc, however I tend to drive in Pure or Power mode only I do not use Hybrid mode often. In Power mode the mid range performance is quite surprising, (I doubt that any Finish Police are reading this so I am happy to mention that there is no trouble at all accelerating from 80-130/140Kmh in just a couple of car lengths) Even from a standstill the 0-100 performance is better than my old Cayenne. Weight has something to do with this too, but having the electric motor provide extra torque and fill in during gear changes means acceleration feels linear.

Winter is soon coming so I will be experiencing my first FWD car in 10 years in snow soon, however due to legal requirements that will be studded winter tires anyway.

Regarding golf bags I cannot comment.

All in all, I knew what I was getting into and considering the different specs of the Cayenne and XC40 I am more than happy.

The only thing I will miss this winter is intentionally taking a few extra laps around roundabouts (sideways) just for fun.

Do you know if R18 rims can be mounted on the hybrid model?

I read that it would have brake discs on the front of 18 and I was thinking that 18 wheels could not be fitted!

It would seem that 18” fits when specified wheels are fitted according to manual.

Sorry to interrupt in this topic, but could I ask you morganj if the cosumption indicated on this trip (5,3L/100km) was with or without a recharge during this trip?
The road is more important than the destination.
