As has been mentioned earlier a swift thump on the affected area often cures a creak or rattle.

Jamie 307, I had exact same issue. I used WD 40 and sprayed where your arrow indicates, along the whole join. Make sure you have a cloth handy to wipe any excess spray. Worked a treat, not a sound since.

I might try the spray sometime. Currently I have my phone's USB charging cable wedged in there, which does the trick without looking silly or risking falling behind the dash.

I had exactly the same problem and tried the "thump" solution previously mentioned.

It worked a treat, no creaks from that location, or any other, since.

Doesn't smell of WD40 either
