Anyone who successfully manages to fit a dual dash cam on board the XC40, please keep us posted as I am sure this would be a very relevant part of “add-ons” for our prized possessions !

The first editions have a tinted rear window, would this impact a dash cam fitted to the rear on a 2 channel system?

Plenty of discussion on the inter-webs on this generally. Yes it looks to have an impact = more so at night. However given rear cameras are usually for having a rear end the culprit car will usually be close enough to get something decent as evidence.

I've been using a Viofo A119 dashcam in my current car for the last 2 years and it has performed faultlessly. It's wedge shape makes it easy to fit and it is being well maintained by the manufacturer. I popped it in my pocket when I went to see the XC40 and tried a "dry fit" to the passenger side of the mirror binnacle. Fits in well but can't comment on any electrical interference it might cause. Having no problems with the one fitted to my Skoda Superb sited in a similar location.

Hi Guys,
Now that a few of the members have started receiving their FE's or received them , any further thoughts about fitting Dash cams on these cars ( dual / front and back ) ?
If advice as to fitting and appropriate makes / models , would be most well - come .

I was thinking that if I decided to go down that route of the possibility of getting one of those Go Pro type head cam things.
Would be a lot tidier and save a lot of messing about, good idea or not, just a thought!

I’ve been using the Viofo A119 for the last 18mths. Been 100% reliable, nice form factor, capacitor rather than battery so no overheating problems. Use one with the GPS unit in the front, another one without GPS in rear. Well supported by the manufacturer with a number of improvements made to the firmware after feedback from users. Available on Amazon from U.K. sellers or direct from Viofo in China. Last one I ordered from them took 7 days from order to delivery.

I've got an Anker Roav C1 Pro, bit like the Viofo A119, coming in a few days so will fit and report back.

Seems the new plastic surround around the rear view mirror containing all the safety stuff is going to be the challenge!

Does the Anker have the left-right adjustable lens like the Viofo?
My current car has a similar safety gadget setup, mounted camera on passenger side close up to the plastic with the lens angled to the right. Just get a slight cut off of picture from the plastic cover but nothing too intrusive.

The left-fight adjust also gives the option of mounting top left or right of the screen and angling toward center but the screen on my car is too curved to do that, not sure about the XC40...
