Yesterday got the chance to turn the HiFi up but oh dear bit of a disappointment. Wanted a car with the Harmon HiFi but with the spec i wanted took it over £40,000. Turned the volume to max but disappointed. Has anyone retro fitted a decent HiFi to their car.

I don't know why guys you want to turn the volume up to max.
I have HK and during driving with all the noise I barely go up to 50%, if I drive alone without wife, then I can go maybe even to 70%..

Maybe the HK system is so much more powerful but with the standard system you can easily turn up to max with no detriment, it just doesn't have the volume.

When on full volume it sounds like my previous car was on around 50%. It's a poor system just like the OP mentioned, and I certainly wouldn't describe it as HiFi.

I envy you having the HK. When choosing my car they bought one round from their stock and it had the HK and what a difference there is. Putting mine on full volume is like putting yours on 25%. The 2 reasons for not having the car was 1-it had the bright orange interior and 2 -The price of the car went over the £40,000 bracket. isvicthere is right in saying its not HiFi but couldn't think of what else to call it. LOL.

I’ve seen on another post (maybe fb group) someone has taken theirs to a car audio specialist and had the speakers changed and added 2 extra ones in the empty speakers slots to the rear. They said it was possible without any mods as the amp already in their is powerful enough. Hope this helps.

Kindly do share it if you come across it. Also looking into aftermaket options / speaker replacements as well. Waiting for some trim removal kit to arrive to check if there's any wiring on the 2 rear speaker placements from (Harmon Kardon) that's not included in the standard system.

Well it's quite basic I think/guess? it's just something like this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Car-Door-Pla ... %7Ciid%3A1
Since I'm wary to open anything as it might break, I've been looking at youtube vids and can see that they use something like that.

I understand the concept, just hadn't realised someone provides a service selling plastic spatulas.

I've always used similar but homemade - fingers, plastic kitchen utensils, wood pieces etc.
