Three SIM (Internet with Legs) arrived. Popped it into the holder (not a mini-SIM as the manual says, but a full size one) started the car, enabled internet and all was well with the world. Couldn't be easier. Thank you to all who recommended the Three SIM.

If you don't mind me asking, what do you use that sim card for?
I so far can imaging it is needed for the traffic updates and Volvo on Call, but may be there is something else as well?

Map updates, TuneIn Radio App, Spotify App (if you have premium account), using the car SIM data rather than phone SIM for anything else e.g. streaming music, also Android Auto, Apple Car play.
Passengers in car can use the data as well on their phones or tablets or laptops.

Updates, Google Local Search, Live Traffic. I'm still learning so I'm sure there's much more that I can use it for.

Finally my car is coming today
It had to be raining
I got a phone call out the blue from the supplying dealer asking for my email and mobile for registering On-Call and the Vodafone sim card. It will be registered and working when I get the car. Have even got my Vodafone account and I can log in and see the 100GB counting down.
I did talk to them about cars being delivered without the SIM card and he said they had terrible supply problems from Vodafone and have only just caught up through lockdown.

I collected my car on Thursday. Today, I tried to set up the internet connection - only to discover the SIM card is not fitted.
Spoke to the 'salesman'. His response was "Oh yeah, we don't fit the SIM card as most people don't want it because they use the data on their phone"....
Not impressed.

Not sure you are missing much, the Spotify buffers all the time even with 3+ bars on the SIM. Likely to use it for map updates only as spotify works just fine in Android Auto.
I'm more miffed I only found out after I collected the car that the Type 2 charger for £50 was classed as an upgrade so it removed the 3-pin charger which I was going to use at the house. Talk about Volvo constantly penny pinching on a 43K car. So a nice £292 for a 3-pin charger
work agreed to pay thankfully.

In the pricelists at least here in Germany it says the original cable will be removed by selecting another cable option.
