Hi, I’m new to the forum but have owned an XC40 (2.0 T4 Momentum Pro) for 2 years. I’ve enjoyed driving the car, and have had few problems, but haven’t done as many miles as I’d anticipated (11,500 miles on the clock so far).
At yesterday’s 2-year service the locking wheel nut couldn’t be found anywhere in the car. I was amazed to hear the service manager say that at least 4 other customers had experienced the same problem within the last week or so. I don’t remember ever seeing a locking wheel nut (and yes with hindsight I know I should have looked for it earlier), so I’m now beginning to wonder whether it was ever supplied in the first place. If it were going to be anywhere it might have been with the spare tyre, but all that’s there is the jack, wheel wrench, towing eye and a hollow plastic tube about 4” long whose purpose I don’t understand. According to the service manager it will cost about £70 for a ”replacement” wheel nut.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Can’t find locking wheel nut – was it ever supplied?
My locking wheel nut is kept in an insert with the rest of the spare wheel paraphernalia. The hollow tube is for insering into the filler pipe if you need to fill up from a petrol can.
