Front on the passenger side of the radar cluster? How far? Also, how did you route the cables as the rear camera cable is quite a chunky cable. Previously I had the power cable come down one side of the A pillar to the fuse box, and the other side going down the other A pillar.

For the rear camera, I had bought a cheap money clip to mould and allow me to clip that to the top of the rear trim and stuck the camera to the clip.

Appreciate any info on your install or images/pics.

It is on the passanger side, just after the city safety radar.

I also had this accessory that connects permantly to the battery, and shuts down if voltage falls below XX.

Professional installer did it, but I remember it was hard for him to find the proper wire, as XC40 is always on.

Rear camera I glued with double - sided tape, original one does not hold it.

I will post pictures tomorrow

Thanks - appreciate you taking the time. Very useful for me to use as a reference.

Are folks who self-fitting their cams just tucking the cable behind the trim on the roof and door pillar? I assume there is a tucking path from there to the 12V socket? On current car (XC40 is in the mail) the cable follows the pillar down and tucks behind the rubber of the door seal and into a covered cavity under the glove box where it can pop out by the centre console tray. Is something similar achievable with the XC40?

Yes, that’s exactly how I routed my dashcam cabling.

Do you still have your dashcam fitted this way? Is the 12v socket always on or switched?

Yes, still fitted like this. 12v lighter socket switches on and off with the ignition. I use a plug in 5v power supply with 2x USB sockets, each supplying up to 2.4amp.
