Don't believe me? Next time you get held up on the twisty bits by someone doing 40 in a 60, or you get stuck at the back of a queue behind a caravan, check the amount of chrome on the culprit's car.

Get the R, spec it to your liking, and know that that person is not you.
On the basis of this remark I can only deduce that the R Design is targeted at ageist bigots!

Speaking as an ‘old man’ who went with the inscription pro and the T5 engine, as I understand the T5 no longer has the paddle shifters I’d have to ask as lovely as the grill is on the R design, how much difference will those stiffer shocks really make, it’s no sports car so whichever variant you go for it ain’t going to be great on those bends. Re the reversing camera is always say it is definitely worth the extra for the 360 camera set up, works a treat, it’s still one of my favourite features even after some 18 months plus
T5 Inscription Pro, Pine Grey, blond interior . Intellisafe pro Xenium pack, Harmon Kardon. Ordered 25th Sept. 18. Delivered 19 Dec following a cancellation and move to earlier factory assembly slot.

I went for the R Design Pro, this has heated front seats and windscreen plus the 20” wheels. One thing I personally hate on cars is chrome so the sporty look of the black R Design was perfect for me. I’m a biker as well (V Strom) and like the sports suspension and 20” wheels which give a firm but not to harsh ride. As a SUV it’s never going to handle like a roller skate but this combination feels good to me,it’s not like a boat through the twisty’s yet still feels comfortable.
IMO the R Design Pro is a good choice.

It's all down to personal taste of course. I went for the Inscription because i don't like the black roof on the R Design. Black roofs work on some cars but in my opinion not on the XC40 - to my mind it makes it look like an old-fashioned pram!

For balance, I own 2 motorcycles and a Honda (Ducati ST3s, Moto Guzzi 1200 Sport, Honda NC750X) and absolutely love my Inscription Pro.

It's a tad childish to suggest that, just because you ride a motorcycle, you should choose a car with stiff suspension. My car serves a completely different purpose to my bikes - if you want stiff suspension on your car, perhaps you should ride your motorcycle(s) more often.

Personally I don't think the 'R' suspension is that stiff, and it certanly isn't the reason I ordered it, at the time it was the only model available (First Edition) and the deal was so good! ;)

Blimey, who'd have thought a question about whether to go Inscription or R Design would produce so much emotion and bitterness!

Personally I love a bit of chrome on a car, and I don't consider myself a mimsying driver.

Momentum anyone? 😂
