I thought it might be interesting, as we each pore over the detail of our new acquisitions, to log a list of little known facts about the XC40. So, ....
Factoid #1 - the tyre on the Tempa spare wheel is made by the ChaoYang tyre company of Hangzhou, China, part of the ZC Rubber Group. Well at least mine is.

They seem to specialise in bicycle tyres. Hangzhou happens to be the location of the Geely HQ.
Little known XC40 Factoids?
Two XC40s - so far! Inscription Pro T5 AWD Auto - Glacier Silver/Blond/21”, fully loaded, from Jan thro Sep 2021. Polestarred. Also one of the first FEs - a D4 AWD Auto - Bursting Blue/Charcoal/20" from Mar thro Aug 2018. Also Polestarred.
Hi
I dare say loads of the car will be made from Chinese components especially steel for chassis and body and suspension parts, that leaves the
electronics for the dash and info centre yes they might be China as well, it makes sense as all the cheap labour used will be a boon to Volvo.
The Scandinavian country's tend to be very very expensive for everything.
I tried to track down where the leather seats in my Inscription Pro was coming from couldn't find a thing (I was hoping Scandinavia they have the best quality hides in the world) I have been told. The older Volvo,s had great quality seating and leather now is everything has to be priced down
to the last Euro

While ferreting around the cargo area this morning I found a loose plastic component of some sort that looked like it should plug in somewhere. It had a label attached saying “Made in Poland”.

Don't forget who owns Vovlo, business sense dictates that many of the parts will be from China. Or at least from the most cost effective/cheap source! Fact of life I'm afraid.
XC40 Inscription pro - T4 - Auto AWD - Pine Grey - Blonde Leather - 19" wheels - Intellisafe pro Pack, Tinted windows, Keyless drive, wireless charging, Xenium pack, Towbar, Spare wheel. Delivered 22nd January 2019.
Well aware who owns Volvo and they didn't get to the size of business they are today by cutting too many corners, in fact they seem to be a company that has and looks to continue to evolve well in the automotive industry since the 80's.Celticxc60 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 12, 2018 11:31 am Don't forget who owns Vovlo, business sense dictates that many of the parts will be from China. My comment of course was tongue in cheek and this coming from a soon to be x Audi owner who we all know are renowned for cutting certain corners so to speak.
XC40 T5 FE - Bursting with blue and now with some extra blue - Polestar

XC40 T5 First Edition, 20inch wheels, fusion red, charcoal
Hi
Thanks for that great news
Thats a bonus the best quality comes from Bridge of Weir more than likely the hides will be from Scandinavia scratch free from barbed wire and the like , not any use skimping on the the leather, so Volvo are intent on keeping their quality for leather seats and great comfort .

Hi All
As I thought could be 60%-80% Chinese content, is there anything from Sweden (maybe the wee Swedish flag some don't get) !
Maybe that's a good thing when we are out of the EU we can get all the parts from China direct not through the
stealers with all the new Tariffs added LOL
