Not insurance 😀, I mean an actual cover to keep the bird poo off my paint while my car sits on the drive for weeks on end. Any recommendations at reasonable cost? With enough headroom for roof rails and bike carrier.

Each to their own but, reasonable cost only works if your car is scrupulously clean & well waxed.

A flapping cover in high winds (on a dirty car) is akin to a big sheet of sandpaper.

Pay a bit more:

Well that does leave plenty of headroom, and can be used as a marquee for a garden party once the lockdown period is over

Save your money.

Give the car a thorough wash, perhaps a polish and definitely wax. It will be protection enough (as long as you are not parked beneath a tree). See my recent post about waxing.

These cars are built to withstand the Scandinavian winters.

After waxing keep a daily check for the bird droppings and remove with lots of water, preferably early morning when they are soft from the morning moisture. Keep a plastic hand spray bottle of distilled water in the boot for this purpose.
