So it would seem it's 3 months out of date (info from page 1 of this thread)

These are the front pages of the two different “Edition 2” documents. Does yours match one of these?

Right - so the one that says “MY2018 and MY2019 Edition 2”. That’s the one that dates from early December 2017 and if your dealer just gave it to you they don’t know what they are doing. To answer your question, there were three more “MY2018 and MY2019” editions after that, although I only ever saw numbers 4 and finally 5. They all contained the FE, referred to as MY2018. The latest version (first image) only refers to MY2019 and does not include the FE.

Also it begs the question, do Volvo (UK) know what they are doing in terms of Document revision......They have arrived at a very confusing method of Document control in terms of Unique revision designation. Any normal Document control would have arrived at this solution:
MY18 - Edition 1
MY18 - Edition 2
MY18 - and so on........
MY19 -Edition 1
MY19 -Edition 2
MY19 - and so on.......

This is very basic stuff

It seems that Volvo have gone for
MY18 Edition 1
MY18 Edition 2 & so on......
MY18&MY19 Edition 1
MY18&MY19 Edition 2 & so on.....
MY19 Edition 1
MY19 Edition 2 & so on........ INSANITY

And why not print an issue date for clarity........

It is asking for problems imo, in terms of dealers getting lost.

Given that Volvo XC40 headlights look XC40 specific, could it really be possible that there are some AST headlights out there randomly???.
If there are some AST, it can only be that Volvo have pulled them due to technical or manufacturing problems.
This does not look like a mis print in the spec sheets, and that Volvo never had any intension of offering them.

Really all that matters is that no XC40 has ever had AST, and none of the cars being built in this model year will have them. There’s nothing any of us can do to change that, I’m afraid. Since the headlights are still excellent without it, I won’t be letting it spoil my enjoyment of my car when it finally arrives.
Cancelled after waiting 3 months to be told delivery will take 11 months.

While this part of the thread is getting rather Pythonesque, for the record these are the dates of the various price lists I have seen:-

MY18 & 19 Edition 2 - 16/10/17
MY18 & 19 Edition 4 - 15/12/17
MY18 & 19 Edition 5 - 19/02/18
MY 19 Edition 2 - 14/03/18

The date is to be found on the last page (page 20).

The FE is listed in the first three only and described as MY18. It disappears in the MY19 only price list.

The AST feature for the headlights is only described in the first price list above and then disappears.

Because so few of us have actually got the XC40 yet; The Buying process is, at this time, a large part of our total experience to date, and so may form, for a while a significant part of the posts.

In my case the buying was rushed (my fault), but there where a few issues:
All related to out of date spec sheets, which had known errors, that I was not made aware of...... some of which were Volvo's error, some of which were the dealers error.

I am sure the headlights will be fab, of that I have no doubt in my experience of Volvos, thing like safety; seats; headlights; robustness; longevity; are top of the class.

Who knows what happened with the headlights; keeping the AST technology back for later MY or mid life updates; the accountants have struck and reigned the costs in; problems with AST technology on other Volvo models; supply issues.....or just a plain spec error....???? We may never know!

I think the XC40 will be/is a superb vehicle, and as a loyal Volvo customer I may well own Volvo's for years and years to come; but given the absolutely huge investment in this vehicle, come on Volvo (and dealers) get the easy bits right, please!!

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/0 ... lled-cars/

Have Volvo pulled their super-duper latest AST headlights, just toooo bright?

Given that the two most common forms of car accidents are the "head on collision - because a car is out of their lane"; or "Running of the Road"; I guess headlights can be too bright and a danger to the other on coming motorist.... just a thought?
