Is it just me or are the wipers really crap?
Every time I use them they leave smears on the windscreen!
It doesn't matter what I do. I've polished the glass, used a Rainex product, wiped the blades with washing up liquid, nothing works for more than a day.
Has anyone tried any after market replacements...

Wipers are really good on my XC40 R Design.

I also like the way the water emerges from the wipers not a jet spray.

I use a screenwash from B&Q.

I think it is down to the screenwash. I've experienced what you describe previously. I use Screwfix ready mixed and no problems anymore

RainX tends to leave my windscreen streaky after a day or so - might want to avoid that if it's causing you grief.

Have you tried turning on the heated front windscreen (if you have it)? Current weather conditions tend to cause these foggy effects that can look like streaking, but warming the windscreen reduces it.

No problems here either - using Halfords as well, as have done for years.

We always used meths' on the blades and screen when we had this problem when servicing vehicles in our garage, but it could be you pass through an industrial area where's there's polluted atmosphere.
