Had my D3 FWD manual for 3 weeks now.
Last 3 fills have been:
50.1 mpg
43.5 mpg
47.2 mpg
I haven't done any long trips yet so fairly pleased so far.
The car only has 3,200 miles on it so hoping it will improve.
The General Fuel Consumption Thread
My average after 12,00 miles is 37.1 for a D4 AWD which I find rather disappointing. if I'm honest. The small fuel tank means the range is more limited that I'd like and on long runs I'm always having to consider when and where I will need to fix up on a 400 mile round trip.

I have a D4 AWD and now I have done 11,000 miles consumption has increased to just over 40 mpg driven quite hard and around 43/44 driven to limit on motorways. Quite pleased now after being shocked in early days. It is comparable or a little better than my Tiguan with equivalent engine. Interestingly the Tiguan started well but never improved its mpg while the D4 seems to be improving all the time.

D4, Automatic, AWD, 19” Wheels.
One year in, 13,000 miles Average 42mpg.
Driven pretty moderately 80% motorway top cruising speed mostly 70mph.
18% pottering back roads and town.
2% spirited driving.
Suggested reasons for this frankly poor consumption:
Heavy Car, AWD, Inefficient Automatic gearbox, inefficient engine tuned for low emissions?
Disappointing

You call 42 mpg poor consumption?
My petrol T5 R-Design laughs at that by returning 26mpg (10.8l/100km)
My xc40 car has traveled 3500km in the past 2 months, mainly urban trips with no real highway travel, with a mix of 95 & 98ron fuel. Fuel economy appears to be unchanged if even slightly better with 95 which is perplexing.

D3 automatic. 10500 miles.
Average according to aCar 48mpg. Best 53mpg, worst 42mpg.
According to Volvo app it’s 49.5mpg average.
Steady driving, generally long distance A roads. Not fast but not slow either.
The main killer for mpg is stop/start driving with the auto box.
