Paddle shift by mistake?

Before I bought my R Design I watched a video review that said the paddles were cheap. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw/used them as I thought they were just fine.

I've seen garish extensions that make them look as if they're from Game Of Thrones and could take your eye out on a corner on Amazon.

I had a Alfa qf. The paddles on that were really nice. Burnt my hands in summer though.
